If you had told us a few years ago that a rainy evening in Seattle would lead to all of this, we probably would have laughed. But here we are.

It was the fall of 2020. Seattle was doing what Seattle does best: gray skies, steady rain, the kind of weather that makes you want to stay inside with good company. Feven and Felix both ended up at a mutual friend's dinner party that night. Neither of them planned to stay long. But then they started talking, and somehow three hours disappeared. They covered everything: where they grew up, what they missed about home, places they wanted to see, the kind of future they imagined. By the end of the night, Felix had offered Feven a ride home and asked for her number. Twice. Just to be safe.

What came next was the kind of thing you can't plan. Late-night phone calls that went way past midnight. Coffee dates that turned into full-day adventures around the city. The slow, exciting realization that this wasn't just a good connection; it was a rare one.

Feven grew up in an Ethiopian American household, the kind where the smell of injera fills the kitchen, Amharic hums through the house on Sunday afternoons, and community isn't just a word, it's a way of life. Felix was raised Nigerian American: jollof rice debates at every family gathering, Afrobeats as the soundtrack to everything, and the kind of loud, loving household where everyone has an opinion and nobody leaves hungry. Two first-generation kids who understood what it means to carry two cultures in one heart. That shared understanding became the foundation of everything.

"I knew she was the one when I caught myself smiling at my phone like an idiot for the third time that day." (Felix)

And then they started traveling. And never really stopped.

It began with a spontaneous trip and quickly became their thing. South Africa, where they went on safari and Felix pretended he wasn't nervous about the elephants. The South of France, where they ate too much cheese and didn't apologize for it. Belize, where they snorkeled and Feven discovered she's braver underwater than Felix will ever be. Costa Rica, where they hiked through rainforests and made friends with a toucan (or at least tried to). The Seychelles, where the water was so blue it didn't look real.

But the trips that mattered most were the ones that took them home. Ethiopia, where Feven walked Felix through the highlands, introduced him to her family, and showed him the places that shaped her. And Nigeria, where Felix brought Feven into the energy of Lagos, the warmth of his family, and the kind of celebration that starts in the afternoon and doesn't end until someone's uncle decides it's time for one more song. Every stamp in their passports told the same story: the world is better with the right person next to you.

Then came September 2025. Felix told Feven they were going to France. He had the itinerary. He had the restaurant reservations. He had the whole thing mapped out. What he didn't mention was that none of it was real. Somewhere between packing their bags and boarding the plane, the destination quietly changed. When they landed in Greece instead, Feven was confused, then surprised, then delighted. Two days later, on a quiet evening overlooking the water on September 17th, Felix got down on one knee. She said yes before he finished the question. He had a whole speech prepared. She's still waiting to hear it.

Now, almost exactly two years to the day after that evening in Greece, they're getting married. At The Breakers Palm Beach, surrounded by the people who have loved them, challenged them, and cheered them on from the very beginning. Their wedding weekend will be a celebration of two cultures, two families becoming one, and a love story that started on a rainy night and somehow led to all of this.

We can't wait to share it with you.
