Venue & Details
The Breakers Palm Beach
More Than a Hotel
The Breakers exists because of a railroad. Henry Flagler, co-founder of Standard Oil, extended his Florida East Coast Railway all the way to Palm Beach in the 1890s and built the original hotel in 1896 to give his passengers somewhere worth stopping. The current building, completed in 1926 after two fires claimed its predecessors, was modeled after the Villa Medici in Rome. It sits on 140 acres of oceanfront land, features hand-painted ceilings by 75 Italian artisans brought over specifically for the job, and has been owned and operated by the same family for five generations. It's one of the last grand American resorts still in the hands of its founding family.
We fell in love with its blend of history and warmth, and we're honored to celebrate here. We think you'll feel it the moment you walk through the lobby.
What to Expect When You Arrive
As you approach the resort, you'll drive down a palm-lined boulevard that opens up to the grand porte-cochère entrance. Valet attendants will greet you and take care of your car. From there, step through the main doors into the breathtaking lobby. Look up at the frescoed ceilings and take it all in. Our wedding events will be clearly signposted, and there will be attendants to guide you to the right spaces throughout the weekend.
The Ocean Lawn: Ceremony & Cocktail Hour
Our ceremony and cocktail hour will take place on The Ocean Lawn, one of The Breakers' most breathtaking outdoor settings. Perched right on the Atlantic, this manicured lawn offers unobstructed ocean views and the sound of waves as your backdrop. As we exchange our vows, you'll feel the warm sea breeze and see the water stretching to the horizon behind us.
After the ceremony, cocktail hour continues on the lawn as the late-afternoon light softens over the ocean, the perfect moment for photos, conversation, and signature drinks. Attendants will guide you indoors for the reception when it's time to move to dinner and dancing.
Since the ceremony and cocktails are outdoors, we recommend light, breathable fabrics and comfortable shoes for the lawn. There will be shade, refreshments, and the ocean breeze to keep you comfortable. In the unlikely event of inclement weather, The Breakers has equally stunning indoor spaces ready as a seamless backup.

September Weather in Palm Beach
September in Palm Beach is warm and tropical. Expect average highs around 88°F (31°C) with humidity and the possibility of brief afternoon showers. Evenings cool down to a comfortable 78°F, which is perfect for our outdoor cocktail hour. We recommend light, breathable fabrics and keeping a small clutch-friendly umbrella handy just in case.
